Spring has sprung here at Harmony B&B and it is wonderful to see the fruit trees burst into blossom, bringing the promise of beautiful fruit for summer.
Time to prepare the veggie garden for planting tomatoes and herbs too. It is such a joy to serve the fresh home grown produce to our guests together with the fresh laid eggs from our Harmony hens.
Spring is a great time to visit the Mornington Peninsula, perfect for exploring the many walking trails, both hinterland and coastal, you never know what you will see recently Jeremy and I were delighted to see a large whale frolicking in the waters off Flinders so do keep your eyes open!
Of course walking does work up an appetite and we have no shortage of amazing places to eat here on the peninsula. Yesterday I lunched at the Merricks General Wine Store. They have a Cellar Door with local wine tastings and restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, it has a good menu from light bites to substantial meals and a good local wine list all well priced.
We could not resist the burgers served medium rare with sensational fries and a beautiful aioli priced at $25.00 and a glass of house wine for $7.00. It is open from 08:30 to 5:30 daily and well worth a visit.
If you are into gardening then make sure you check out the Spring Garden Festival at the Red Hill Showgrounds Saturday 12th September 9am to 3pm or the Open Garden at Rick Eckersley’s Musk Cottage in Flinders 26th & 27th September.
Elgee Park have a Sculpture Walk and Vineyard Tour every Saturday in spring phone 0410 596 637 for details.
Look forward to seeing you on the peninsula soon.
